Description

now/here is my journey, of walks in the city, recorded in a thread of 28 emails. It speaks of intimate relations and how they changed over time. Written over the period 2019-2020, these emails unfold some of my fond memories of my time spent with a beloved friend and romantic partner that I lost. I wrote these emails when I missed that friendship as my private process of grieving my loss. Over time, I started noticing that the love I thought I had lost, wasn’t lost after all. In my process of honouring the beauty that we once created, I found love again. Telling a story of a love lost with self-compassion no longer leaves it simply being a story of loss—it becomes a story of being found. These emails, written in proximity to loneliness, transformed my beloved from one who had left me into one who is now/here to love me. In other words, this map of loss helped me find myself.
